Heart Disease Awareness

February is Heart Disease awareness month, and since heart attack and stroke are the nation’s number one and number three killers knowing the warning signs is important.
First, to help lower your risk, diet and exercise are very important. Regular physical activity adds up to a healthier heart. Swimming, cycling, jogging and great activities to build a strong heart, in lowering chances of a heart attack or stroke. Having a healthy diet by eating raw and natural foods also helps lower your chances as well.
Sometimes, diet and exercise just aren’t enough to protect yourself from a heart attack or stroke. Genetics plays a role in your chances as well. Some of the warning signs for a heart attack are:
- Chest discomfort
- Discomfort in other areas o fthe upper body such as arms, back, neck or jaw
- Shortness of breath
- Cold sweat
- Nausea
- lightheadedness
If you think that you are someone else could be having a heart attack, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. There is a higher chance of survival if the victim gets help sooner.
Stroke symptoms are as follows:
- Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg
- Confusion, trouble speaking/understanding
- Trouble seeing, walking
- Severe headaches
Again, if you notice these signs in yourself or someone else call 9-1-1 immediately.

Healthy Lifestyles

It is very easy to live an unhealthy lifestyle. Once you are used to ordering burgers at McDonalds and watching television in the evenings, it is hard to motivate yourself to get off the couch and be active. Many people feel that they have dug their hole too deep and working out would only make them frustrated.

On the other hand, once someone begins eating healthy and making time for exercise in their day, living a healthy life can become second nature. In my experience, eating healthier for a while and trying to return back to high fat food just makes you feel gross.
I gave up soda for lent one year, and it took me a while to be able to drink it again without getting stomach aches.

In addition to healthy eating, exercising is also important – many of my friends who didn’t work out have started going to my University’s rec center and feel great about it, even to the point where they notice that they are more attentive in class.

My mom always likes to remind me “inertia breeds inertia.” The best way to get more energy is to get up and be active. The worst thing to be lazy and sit longer.

I will tweak the name and theme of this site once I figure out my client so it can relate to their industry some how.
